"New cars and trucks are just too expensive." I believe that is the main complaint buyers have about new and used vehicles. New vehicles have never been higher in price, and many used vehicles are selling for more than their MSRP when they were new. I posted about this not to long ago showing real examples online.
But also, the more "connected" cars and trucks become, the more people will want to unplug them, so to speak. BMW already tried to charge customers a monthly fee to use heated seats that were already installed in the car. Vehicle manufacturers not only want to use vehicle and internet/network technology to collect data on you, but they want to move to a monthly fee business model for luxuries the vehicle owner used to own, and it won't stop there. The ability to shut your car off and prevent the owner from driving is pretty easy with modern technology. Who in their right mind would want to give a corrupt authority the power to do that?
