It would beat a KLR 650 in a 1/4 mile race without shifting out of first gear, and they sound great. They even sound better than a Harley Davidson big v-twin engine at high rpm in my opinion. They're so fast I've seen them EASILY out run police or highway patrol officers on the freeway. The only problem with sports bikes or supersport bikes is they're involved in more accidents than any other type of motorcycle. It's the speed that makes them so attractive and dangerous.
