The following information was taken from an owners manual for a 1917 Harley Davidson motorcycle. (Bet you have never had to do this type of maintenance on your motorcycle.)

Lubrication of Inlet or Intake Valve Rocker Arm Bearings



Give the rocker arm or inlet lever bearings two or three drops of oil every day the machine is used. To do this, turn around the spring clip on the rocker arm bolt, so that the oil hole is exposed, as shown in the illustration. After oiling, be sure to turn the clip back to keep out dirt.
