Carjackings Are On The Rise

Victims of carjackings are on the rise. Carjacking is when your forced to give up your keys, usually at gun point, and your car is taken from you. It could happen anytime: when your stopped at a stop light, when your filling up your gas tank, or when your walking back to your car with a hand full of groceries. Right now its mainly happening in big cities, but if it continues to grow it could spread to long roads in rural areas. I believe the term "highway robbery" came from car jackings.
This crime is so lucrative crews are formed just for carjackings, and it's mainly people of color committing this crime, so be on the look out.

Chicago police department has issued a Carjacking warning just before the 2024 Democratic National Convention is set to happen in Chicago. It's also important to know Chicago has a police officer shortage.
I might be a good idea to rent a car if you visit Chicago, and don't drive with anything you can't live without.
