Title: AMF Harley Davidson Needs You To Open A Dealership - 1976 Ad
Post by: smallengineshop on April 24, 2019, 06:30:12 PM
In 1975 Honda was by far the biggest Japanese motorcycle manufacturer in USA with 31 different models in production. Harley Davidson was the biggest American motorcycle manufacturer, but only had 10 production models and was going through the troubling AMF years. I found this AMF Harley Davidson advertisement printed in 1976 looking for individuals willing to invest in a Harley Davidson dealership. Today it's hard to imagine Harley Davidson ever being hard-up for dealerships. It would cost close to $1,000,000 to open a Harley Davidson dealership today. I'm sure back in 1976 with the trouble Harley Davidson was going through made a dealership much cheaper. Can you imagine what a great investment it would have been to open a dealership in 1976 and survive to today? Can you say "mucho dinero?"
