She stole my Citibike?
« on: May 19, 2023, 05:57:42 PM »
A New York City nurse employed at Bellevue Hospital, who happens to be White, was accused on social media of trying to steal an electric Citibike bicycle from a group of 5 black teenagers after getting off work and trying to get home. Frustrated with the woman not giving up her bicycle, one of the 5 teenagers pushed the bicycle with her on it back into the Citibike locking frame. The video was posted on social media and went viral. The overwhelming online consensus was that she is racist. Her employer placed her on leave until further review. Only problem is now she has a lawyer and produced a receipt for the bicycle. Do you think the race of those involved had anything to do with people jumping to the wrong conclusion including her employer, Bellevue Hospital? Would it be different if it was reversed?

White Americans are demonized in media while blacks are portrayed as victims, when in reality the opposite is true in most cases. This is why people jumped to the wrong conclusion.
