2009 Kawasaki KLR 650 I use for winter riding.

I don’t want to talk about the obvious ways to stay warmer when riding a motorcycle in cold weather, and this might seem a little odd, but it does work. Its called taking cold showers. Take cold showers everyday and your body will build up a resistance to cold temperatures allowing you to be more comfortable in colder weather. I don’t know why it works, but it does. I heard someone say it causes your body to produce more brown fat, but I don’t think anyone really knows for sure how it works. I started off taking 4 or 5 minute cold showers everyday and eventually worked my way up to 10 minutes. It took me a couple of months to get up to 10 minutes and I have kept it there ever since. I’ve been doing it for close to 1 year and it does work. I heard its easier for some people to start off taking warm showers, and than turn the water cold for the last minute, and work your way up from there. I never did that and went cold turkey from the very beginning. It also makes you feel very refreshed afterwards, and I don’t think I will ever take warm showers again.

I first found out about cold showers from watching Wim Hof The Iceman on YouTube. He holds several records for withstanding extreme cold. He also incorporates a breathing technique to help him withstand  cold temperature, but I never use the breathing when I take cold showers. I just jump in the shower and do it. I don’t think I will ever get used to the initial shock of cold water, but over time it does get easier to jump in.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
